MARKETING CONSULTING & Fractional CMO work Rooted in Practical Experience.
Going Up?
Years ago I was in the final round of an interview process with a fancy consultancy when it hit me: they weren’t screening for competence and ability, but arrogance and attitude.
Luckily, I wasn’t some fresh MBA. I already had years of experience doubling revenue at a real company.
So I knew if I asked a question like, “How many gas stations are in Iowa?” I didn’t want someone working for me to take wild guesses based on inaccurate assumptions while doing (admittedly impressive) arithmetic in their head.
I wanted someone who would say, “I don’t know, but I can find out.” Then they’d quickly and competently do the legwork.
