BRANDED ENTERTAIMENT

We Ain’t Talking About Ads

Thousands of agencies are helping millions of companies create billions of ads. Good for them.

We prefer making branded entertainment — things inherent to your brand that are funny, interesting, beautiful, or helpful.

Don’t interrupt what people are interested in; make your product what people are interested in.

SO LIKE SPONSORSHIPS OR PRODUCT PLACEMENT?

No! We’re not talking about something superficial like a scene where a disgruntled actor drinks your soda with the label facing out.

Branded entertainment is all about your product.

Sounds Good, But What in the Hell Are You Actually Talking About?

We believe there is an interesting story buried in every product. (Ever tour a cardboard box factory? It’ll blow your mind.)

Our process is to:

  1. Think deeply about your product, company, or industry — to find the story people didn’t know they were hungry for.

  2. We pick the best medium for the experience we want to share — reaching the right people, in the right way, at the right time.

  3. We pitch you our idea.

  4. If you want to move forward, we’ll move into production and soon deliver our entertainment gems into your hands. You can use them for campaigns, share them organically through social media or on your website, or place them in a treasure chest buried in the American Southwest. It’s up to you.

I Think I Get it, But Can You Give Me an Example?

Sure, say Hormel wants to get Spam on more minds.

After thinking about Spam, we might conclude interesting things are its material form, that it rose to popularity in WWII, or that it’s used a lot in Hawaii.

From there we might pitch:

  • A series of webisodes with challenges examining the nature of Spam. Does it float? Will it catch on fire? Does it make a nice mattress for a guest bedroom, or could it protect a crash test dummy in an accident?

  • A series of tutorials about cooking in combat. (Soldiers must have about a billion really interesting hacks they use to bring variety to their diets.)

  • A reality competition where Hawaiians compete for a years supply of Spam through competitions like building the best Spamd castle (which is a castle on a beach made of Spam rather than sand).

We also might pitch something way better. These are just examples we aren’t getting paid for.

From there it’d be up to Hormel weather to proceed.
